Thailand 2007 - 2008
Step one and two is done and I’m safely in Chiang Mai Thailand.

Leaving Landskrona I got a reminder what kind of town this has become. The ”new” railway station looks like someplace out of a terror movie about the future. Very dirty and tons of sign from ”our future” The trip in the elevator down and up from the tunnel smelled of urine and I did not like to push the button it was all smeared and the whole impression was ”jak…”. Of course there was signs of ”street terror” as you see in the picture in the station house. (the words “please take me out of here” popped up in my head)
It breaks my heart to see my old home towns decay.
This time I traveled with SAS who always is a pain in the ass. Bad personal with a bad attitude from Copenhagen to Düsseldorf. From Düsseldorf to Bangkok with LTU a nice experiense. Good service the airplane was very clean and new (Airbus 330) where I sat beside 2 Swedish guys from Karlshamn Christian and Håkan and they are on a 3 months trip in South East Asia, good luck guys and keep in contact. Now I have to sleep and get in phase with the new time zone..
Day 2 in Chiang Mai.

I have been taking long walks in the NE-corner of Chiang Mai’s old town to get acquainted with the area. I have been away for 7 months and this is South East Asia so nothing is the same as when you left it. The optimism in the business people is somewhat “insane” at least it look like that from my point of view. In a couple of years or less there will be no more true Thai old buildings left inside the old town of Chiang Mai. Today I get the feeling that 50 % of the houses I pass is converted to some kind of tourist industry. Even tough there are app. more than 100 guesthouses/hotels in the NE-corner I found 10 new hotels in construction. Some of my Thai friends are Hotel owner and they all complain of to few customers. Maybe I should start up a business teaching how to use a spreadsheet to calculate the odds of success in a new business on a street full of the same businesses? I have not (to my surprise) taking any new pictures since I landed? So to illustrate my point I found a picture of some mushrooms from the paintball field 12-01-2008. It pretty much looks like the tourist industry in Thailand. (I have a smile on my lips!)
