Some hints about Computer & security, Cost efficiency, and use. If you have a computer at home for fun, education and joy it’s "almost okay" to use piracy windows and user programs with no or very little security against virus and similar threat. When the computer gets useless you format the hard drive, install the piracy programs again and you can start use and play with your toy again until the next crash. Of course in this process you loose every file you produced and not made a backup of. Even if you made a backup and your ANTIVIRUS PROTECTION have been poor or none existing you computer can be infected when/if you use your old self produced files. This is NOT Cost effective. As a private person you can afford to take loss like that and learn about security and loss of work effort as long as you are having fun and learn from it. Microsoft Windows is an expensive Operating System (program that run the computer) with very poor security and it does not matter witch number or name you run, 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista, or 7. They are all vulnerable for treats in form of Virus, Trojan and other programs who infect and destroy your computer program and file system and even in worst case scenario, your hardware driving your computer speed or behaviour beyond its capacity. Using Microsoft Windows in a computer not connected to any internet or other network system without using external disks, memory sticks or wireless connections with other computers is safe and will run for many years without malfunction. (This include NOT install any other programs other than Microsoft own programs) No games, programs or systems unless the one from Microsoft. And of course It’s NOT A bootleg* Microsoft Windows (* not original, registered and updated)… If you want to connect your Microsoft Windows computer to any network or put in files from other systems or computers you need to: MAKE SOME SERIOUS SECURITY PREPARATIONS BEFORE YOU CONNECT YOUR SYSTEM TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD. 1. Set up a FIREWALL. 2. Install and setup a COMPETENT ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM. 3. Set up and run WINDOWS AUTOMATIC UPDATE. 4. Make a BACKUP of all your previous work. And of course you have to do #1 and #2 BEFORE YOU CONNECT YOUR SYSTEM TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD! What is the true cost of virus attacks? Otherwise you might “learn a lot” but loose time and money in the process. A computer used professional at an office should not be used for Games or fun. Not used for downloading and playing music or videos. Never been used by other than competent and educated personal. Not being used as a kid’s “toy”. Using LINUX  A cheap, safe and secure way to use a private and/or a professional computer.  Testing Linux. Download or Buy an Ubuntu and openSUSE,LINUX LIVE CD/DVD. Boot on this media. Check if your computer is operating ok, nothing changes on your computer if it runs from the Live CD/DVD. If your Wi-Fi, Hard drive, USB, Screen, Keyboard and other gadgets is working properly. Hit the install shortcut on desktop, or make a clean install from boot. Today more and more companies, schools and university are using Linux Operative system and Open Source programs witch is much more secure and almost impossible for virus or malware programs to penetrate. The downside aspects are it’s takes a professional computer specialist to set up and maintain the system or at least a little bit of learning but you can find a lot of help on the many online Linux Communities. HERE IS SOME ADDITIONAL TRICKS…. A corporate computer is not a toy. (You would never even dream of, give a child visiting your office the official company book keeping book and a pen to write and draw in.) No other than trained personnel should be allowed to use the computer. When the days work is done MAKE BACKUP. Never install a program if your not 100% sure it’s safe and useful in your WORK. If you’re antivirus program ask you what to do with a possible threat? Click on clean, if that not works click on delete. If you run a TRUE Windows XP, and A TRUE NOD32 you can “test” to install other programs and remove if not useful. The combination of a Fully Updated TRUE Windows a Firewall and a TRUE NOD32 gives you a very good security.
